Cinco De Mayo Event Recap
This past weekend, downtown DeKalb lit up with energy, flavor, and pride as the community came together for one of the most vibrant events of the year—Cinco de Mayo Fest! And let us tell you… it was a whole vibe. From the music and dancing to the amazing food and family fun, this celebration was everything we love about our community—and exactly what we’re here to highlight at Local Exposure.
Held at Frank Van Buer Plaza, the fest was packed from start to finish. Live bands, cultural performances, and the aroma of authentic street tacos filled the air as families, students, and locals strolled through the heart of our city. Kids danced. Abuelas clapped along to the music. Everyone smiled. It was one of those days where you’re reminded why we love calling DeKalb County home.
The plaza buzzed with flavor—birria, elotes, churros, mangonadas—you name it, it was there. Food trucks were serving up the best, and we weren’t shy about getting second (okay, maybe third) helpings. Between bites and beats, people caught up with neighbors, made new friends, and celebrated the richness of our local culture.
One of the highlights? The festive parade of wagons wrapped in bright colors and streamers, weaving through the crowd like a moving art piece. That moment when everyone turned to cheer, laugh, and snap photos felt like pure hometown magic.
This event wasn’t just on our radar—it was on our events calendar at LocalExposure815.com, where we keep track of all the good stuff happening in the area. We love shining a brighter light on what makes this place special, and Cinco de Mayo was a perfect example of fun, unity, and local pride.
We’re beyond grateful to be part of a community that shows up to celebrate together like this. The energy, the culture, the people—this is what Local Exposure is all about.
Stay tuned and keep checking our calendar for more events that connect us, lift us up, and bring us all together. DeKalb County, we see you—and we love you.
